(Condor) on your behalf. In the above referenced document,
Condor proposes to advance ten direct push borings to first encountered groundwater at
approximately 45 feet below surface grade (bsg) while collecting continuous core soil samples to
use for geological logging and field observations. Groundwater samples will be collected from
the water-bearing units using a push-type groundwater sampler.
EHD also reviewed the document prepared by Condor titled Phase II Environmental Site
Assessment Report Multi-modal Station "Six-hlock Project", dated January 13, 2003. This
document discusses borehole locations and findings from analyses of soil and groundwater
samples collected at this site.
On March 11, 2004,Vicki McCartney at EHD discussed the proposed work plan with Lee Morse
of Condor during a telephone conversation. EHD and Condor concluded that six direct push
borings instead of ten borings will be sufficient to initially investigate the lateral and vertical
extent of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination related to an underground storage tank (UST)
formerly located at the site.
The locations for the six borings are as follows:
• One borehole will be advanced adjacent to the southwest side of the former UST; the
other three borings adjacent to the former UST will be omitted.
• Five boreholes will be advanced in the vicinity of the former location of the diesel filter
and piping. Condor had originally proposed six boreholes in this area; the borehole in the
southeast position will be omitted.
A site-specific Health and Safety Plan must be submitted to EHD prior to commencement of
fieldwork. Also a well/boring permit application and $89 permit fee must be submitted to EHD.
Once the well/boring permit has been issued, please notify EHD at least seventy-two hours prior
to the initiating the fieldwork.
