Advancement of.three soil borings to total depths of approximately sixteen feet below
ground surface (bgs) using direct-push drilling technology. All three boreholes will
be advanced approximately five feet from the onsite buildings at the following
locations:
• Approximately seven feet south of monitoring well, MW-3R
• Approximately eight feet north/northeast of MW-2
• Approximately fifteen feet south of MW-2
2. A total of nine soil gas samples will be collected in SUMMA canisters at depths of
six, eleven, and sixteen feet bgs from each borehole and analyzed for benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); naphthalene; and methyl tertiary
butyl ether (MTBE) by Environmental Protection:Agency (EPA) SW-846 soil method
8260B, or by ambient air method EPA TO-15. At least one duplicate soil gas sample
will be collected and analyzed for these same constituents using the analytical method
applied to all other soil gas samples.
3. Human health risks from detected soil gas concentrations will be evaluated using the
Johnson and Ettinger model for subsurface vapor intrusion into buildings and the
State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) vapor intrusion
guidance spreadsheets.
i
