BIO NATIONAL CORPORATION
. 6.3 OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM
6.3.1 Determine optimum saturation level for soil being treated, allowing
for evaporation, and establish maximum expected water delivery into
system. When meter reading indicates desired level, recheck saturation
level (20-60%) throughout the pile to determine any further adjustments.
6.3.2 Monitor pH and system operations and adjust as required by
addition of pH adjusting nutrients.
6.3.3 Monitor emissions with an approved portable gas detection
instrument to detect any release of volatiles to the air.
6.3.4 By adding BIO/100 organisms to the inoculum supply in the
bioreactor, adjust microbial populations as required to maintain optimum
degradation cycle.
6.4 PROGRESSIVE REMOVAL OF SOIL WHEN BELOW ACTION LEVEL.
Concentration of contaminants, soil permeability and remediation progress,
which will vary seasonally, will determine the rate at which soil may be
returned to the environment.
6.4.1 Turn the soil by rototiller, or other suitable device, on the top one
foot of surface.
6.4 2 Sample several points on the top one foot of surface, as directed
by the local authorities, and sample for restoration to below action level
6.4.3 When a sufficient depth of soil is determined to be clean, remove
to Class III landfill or pre-selected location
6.4.4 Rototill the next one foot of depth. Reinoculate, if required.
Continue procedure until all soil is below action level.
7 BIOREMEDIATION COMPLETION AND ABANDONMENT
At defined stages, as described in Section 6.4 above, draw required BOLI
samples for regulatory compliance.
7.1 WHEN CLEARANCE IS OBTAINED FOR COMPLETION OF STAGES OR FULL
REMEDIATION, BEGIN ABANDONMENT PROCEDURE.
7.1.1 Obtain certification of completion from regulatory agency.
1.1.2 The infeed of recharge inoculum/water is cut off.
9 THOR901
