Telephone Confirmation Letter June 4, 1991
ARCO Service Station 2168, Stockton, California 31009-1W
Before installing the new gasoline tanks in the proposed tank cavity, one soil sample will be
collected from under each proposed tank location. Sidewall soil samples will be collected
only if there is subjective evidence of hydrocarbons in the sidewalls. Samples will be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and total xylene isomers. Results will be forwarded to San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD) for approval before installing the
tanks. If the laboratory analyses detect residual hydrocarbons in soil at the base of the
proposed tank cavity, a maximum of six conductor casings will be installed as described
above from the base of the cavity to the ground surface. The conductor casing will allow
soil borings to be drilled after backfilling to continue further investigation of soil conditions
beneath the tanks. Vapor-extraction well will be installed within three rionths of
completing the tank removal with the approval of the work plan to be submitted to the
SJCPHS-EHD if installation of these wells is warranted.
Please call if you have any questions regarding this letter.
Sincerely,
Applied GeoSystems, Inc.
aL 9
Eloise K.
