US
Ms.Lori Duncan,REHS
February 17,2006
Page 2
samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals during the drilling of the boring using a modified California
split-spoon sampler. Soil samples will be used for lithology and screened with a photoionization
detector (PID) for laboratory analysis. At least one soil sample from the boring will be submitted for
laboratory analysis. A URS geologist will log the soils according to the Unified Soil Classification
System. Total depth for the proposed monitoring well will be approximately 33-feet bgs. Depth to first
water is approximately 22.5 feet bgs.
The monitoring well will be constructed using 2-inch OD, schedule-40, flush-threaded poly-vinyl
chloride (PVC) well casing. The well will be constructed with 15 feet of 0.020-inch slot screen set
across the water table, so that 10-feet of screen is submerged below the water. A Monterey No. 3 silica
sand filter pack(sand), or equivalent, will be installed from 6 inches below to 3 feet above the screen. A
2-foot bentonite seal will be installed atop the sand, and grout will fill the remaining annular space to
the surface. The monitoring well will be completed at the surface with a traffic-rated flush-mount well
box set in concrete. The exact screen interval will be determined in the field by the URS geologist. Well
completion details will be presented on the boring log.
A minimum of 72 hours after installation, the monitoring well will be developed by rigorously surging
over the length of the screen interval and by purging a minimum of 10 casing volumes of water from the
well. Sampling of the well will be conducted during the scheduled quarterly event.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this workplan, please call Mr. Vernon Elarth at (916)
679-2299.
Sincerely, RED GE00
URS Corporation Americas ?AUL F9 Q/.
/k_ No. 12 <
Margaret Hogaboom * EXp' 131 Vernon Elarth,R.G.
Staff Geologist &I Project Manager
Attachments: Sheet 1, Site Plan 14 OF CAL
cc: Mr. Don Pratt,Atlantic Richfield Company
Mr. James Barton, CVRWQCB
Mr. Bill Halverson,Property Owner
Mr.Monty Zorb,RZ Carwashes,LLC. 7808 Kelley Drive, Suite F, Stockton, CA 95207
Project File
KAWpmcessUS BP ARCM0216812005 System Installation\SVE-AS SyslnsWP Addendum IB.doc
