• Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report
ARCO Facility No 2168
Stockton, California
Page 5
was used to backfill the space around the well from the top of the sanitary seal to surface
grade Traffic rated vault boxes were placed over the top of the well and mounted flush
with the asphalt surface
Monitoring wells were developed on August 24, 2000 using a surge block and
groundwater pumping On August 30, 2000, Delta returned to the site to measure water
levels and collect groundwater samples The third quarter 2000 groundwater monitoring
event was also conducted at this time The groundwater sampling and well development
field data sheets are included in Appendix B The newly installed wells will be
incorporated into the site quarterly groundwater monitoring program
Morrow Surveying Inc of West Sacramento, a California licensed professional land
surveyor, established tap-of-well-casing elevations for the newly installed wells in
August 2000 Previously installed monitoring wells and vapor extraction wells were also
re-surveyed Well casing elevations were established to the nearest 0 01-foot, referenced
to City of Stockton Benchmark #186, elevation 15 08 feet mean sea level (MSL)
Laboratory Analysis
Sequoia Analytical, Inc (Sequoia), a California state-certified analytical laboratory,
analyzed the soil and groundwater samples Strict chain-of-custody procedures were
followed from the time the soil samples were collected until the time the samples were
delivered to the laboratory The soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes
(BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) using U S Environmental Protection
Agency (USEPA) Method 8015/8020 DHS/LUFT, for methanol using USEPA Method
8015 Modified, and for MTBE, tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-dichloroethane
(1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide (EDB) and ethanol using USEPA Method 8260A Four
soil samples (composite waste samples A,B,C,D) were submitted by Delta and
composited into one sample by the laboratory The composite waste sample was
additionally analyzed for total lead using USEPA Method 6010 Water samples were
analyzed for TPHG using USEPA Method 8015 DHS/LUFT, for methanol using USEPA
Method 8015 Modified, and for BTEX, MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, 1,2-DCA,
ethanol, and EDB using USEPA Method 8260A
