Y ,"SOMA <br /> 40, Working To Restore Nature <br /> 3164 Gold Camp Drive <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 <br /> Phone (916)852-6690 <br /> Fax (916) 852-6688 <br /> i <br /> August 11, 1992 <br /> Mr. Chuck Carmel <br /> ARCO Products Company <br />' P.O Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 <br /> Subject Status of Environmental Investigation and Ground-Water Monitoring, Second <br /> Quarter 1992, and Addendum to Work Plan at ARCO Service Station No <br /> 2168, 441 Charter Way, Stockton, California. <br /> Mr Carmel. <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), RESNA Industnes (RESNA) is <br /> reporting on the status of work conducted at the subject site (shown on Plate 1) during the <br /> second quarter 1992 and presenting an addendum to our Work Plan No 31009-1 (May 17, <br /> 1991) The purpose of the work performed during the quarter was to evaluate the lateral <br /> and vertical extent of hydrocarbons in soil and whether hydrocarbons were affecting ground <br /> water beneath the site. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> RESNA observed the dnlling of four soil bonngs (B-1 through B-4) at the site in July 1991 <br /> during a Preliminary Tank Replacement Assessment investigation Residual total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene <br /> isomers (BTEX) were detected in soil samples collected from boring B-1 drilled in the <br /> vicinity of the existing underground storage tanks (UST's), and trace concentration of <br /> bnezene and total xylene isomers were detected in the other three bonngs TPHg was <br /> detected at a concentration of 40 parts per million (ppm) in B-1 at a depth of 25 feet below <br /> surface grade (bsg). Because hydrocarbons were detected in soil, ARCO requested the site <br /> be added to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division <br /> (SJCPHS-EHD) pilot program on August 5, 1991 <br /> 1 <br /> asp <br /> 310044 <br />
