DATA GAP ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN
Stockton Charter Way Commingled Plume
July 30, 2014
Each well designated for pressure-grout will be destroyed using neat cement with a tremie pipe system,
pressure applied, cut at 2.5 feet bgs and the remaining casing overfilled forming a mushroom grout
cap/surface seal at a minimum of one foot over the shortened top of casing. If groundwater is expelled
during the grouting process, it will be properly contained, characterized, and disposed. The former well
locations will be airknifed one foot greater than the original diameter of the borehole to three feet bgs and
then backfilled and resurfaced with appropriate materials to match the existing grade.
Wells designated to be decommissioned by over-drilling will be drilled using augers larger than the
original borehole, removing material within the original borehole including the well casing, filter pack,
and annular seal. The borehole will then be grouted with neat cement using a tremie pipe system from
the bottom of the borehole to approximately 2.5 ft bgs. If groundwater is expelled during the grouting
process, it will be properly contained, characterized, and disposed. Soil cuttings and well material waste
will also be properly contained, characterized, and disposed. The borehole locations will be resurfaced
with appropriate materials to match the existing grade.
3.5 Waste Disposal
Soil cuttings, drilling fluids, purge water, decontamination water and used personal protective equipment
(PPE)generated during drilling operations will be containerized in Department of Transportation (DOT)-
approved 55-gallon drums and temporarily stored at the Site pending characterization and disposal.Upon
characterization, wastes will be transported by an appropriate disposal contractor to a licensed
disposal/treatment facility.
7
