• 0
Mr. James L.L. Barton, P.G. 2 April 15, 2008
Construction of this vapor-monitoring well will follow the general procedures described in Section 5.2 of
the Pilot Test Work Plan. The wellhead will be fitted with a sample port for vapor monitoring with field
instruments.
Response to Comment (4) on Pilot Test Implementation Schedule
The field pilot test is tentatively scheduled for the first to second weeks of June 2008. The key activities
are well construction, baseline groundwater sampling, biosparge radius of influence (ROI) test (step
and constant rate test), and post biosparge oxygen uptake (respiration) test. Since the biosparge ROI
test system will occupy a portion of the facility property for up to several hours at a time during each
test, Shaw may perform the ROI test during non-business hours, such as during the weekends. The
oxygen uptake monitoring may require the full second week but will only be conducted periodically, as
described in Section 4.2.1.3 of the Pilot Test Work Plan. Shaw will coordinate with the facility
owner/operator on the use of the site property during the pilot test.
Response to Comment (5) on Meeting Attendance
At this time, Shaw and Don Rodgers are available on July 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. to attend a meeting at
your office to discuss the biosparging pilot study results and to set the Final Remediation Plan
schedule.
We trust that these responses will address your comments and concerns about the Biosparge Pilot
Test Work Plan. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
Charlie So at (925) 288-2345 or me at (916) 565-4358.
Sincerely,
Shaw Environmental, Inc.
Charles Metzinger
Project Manager
Enclosures: Figure 4A
Figure 5A
cc: Mr. Mark Owens, UST Cleanup Fund, SWRCB, Sacramento
Ms. Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Charlie So, P.E., Shaw Environmental Inc., Concord
Mr. Don Rodgers
1326 NORTH MARKET BLVD., SACRAMENTO, CA 95834 • 916.565.4358 • FAX 916.565.4356
