Charter Way, Stockton
Hi Charlie,
thanks for your response. Please provide a schedule for the field work when it is
finalized.
Jim Barton
>>> "So, Charlie" <Charlie.So@shawgrp.com> 2/12/2008 1:48 PM >>>
Hi Jim,
Per your request, we contacted the San Joaquin County regarding the proposed well
installation approach. The basic response from the County is that they do not have any
issue with the proposed approach so long as there will be a minimum of 2-inch annular
clearance between the 6-inch drive casing and the 2-inch well casing. To accommodate this
requirement, we have since adjusted the lower (telescoping) drive casing to be of nominal
7 5/8-inch. With a slightly larger lower casing, the upper (conductor) drive casing has
also been adjusted to be of at least nominal 11 3/4-inch. This proposed approach will be
acceptable to the County based on the communications with Margaret Lagorio, who is the
contact person for the drilling permit application. A copy of the email communications
with the County is included for your reference.
As for the three new wells along Lincoln Street, their originally proposed locations would
actually be in the sidewalk (see attached photo) . At this time, we are planning to shift
their locations few feet west to stay out of the sidewalk (also shown in the attached
photo file) . At any rate, we will verify the final well installation locations after the
completion of the subsurface utility survey and will document their adjustment if any in
the report.
With respect to utility clearance, it is our standard procedure to clear the drill hole by
hand augering or air knifing to 5 feet below ground surface. This is in our Company's
Health and Safety Policy and will be explicitly described in our Site-Specific Health and
Safety Plan being prepared for this field work. We will provide this information in the
application for the drilling permit to the County.
We trust that this should address your questions and comments on our proposed change to
the well installation approach at the Transmission Shop site. We will proceed with the
new approach as described until we hear from you otherwise.
Best regards,
Charlie So, P.E.
Sr. Project Engineer
Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure
4005 Port Chicago Highway
Concord, CA 94520
925.288.2345 direct
925.288.0888 fax
www.shawgrp.com
-----Original Message-----
From: Jim Barton [mailto:jbarton@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Monday, February 11, 2008 12:35 PM
To: So, Charlie; lduncan@sjcehd.com; nhenderson@sjcehd.com
Cc: Metzinger, Charles; Wynne, Dan; Teo, Jim; James Munch
Subject: RE: The Transmission Shop Site at 515 W.
