Mr. Gordon Boggs • 40
December 11, 1996
Page 3
after installation of new ground water monitoring wells is to provide additional assurance that
any water introduced during the installation of a new well is removed; and, further improve
the hydraulic communication between the filter pack and the aquifer by removing entrained
fine-grained material remaining from well development procedures. Both no-purge and post-
purge samples will be obtained during the final sampling event prior to closure to address
"post-purge detection only" cases. "Post-purge detection only," defined in the SECOR
publication as "a well in which all analytes are ND [non-detect] in the no-purge sample with at
least one analyte detected in the post-purge [sample]," was encountered in 13.4% of the wells
sampled during the WSPA study.
ARCO and the State UST Reimbursement Fund will immediately realize significant cost
savings with the implementation of this program.
Please do not hesitate to call me at (714) X43-3147 with any questions.
Sincerely,
ARCO PRODUCTS COMPANY
7 Z00
Kateri Luka
Senior Environmental Engineer
KL:RH.rh
cc: J.
