(AGE) on 10 February 2014. Groundwater monitoring is
consistent with previous sampling events and results indicate that the groundwater plume is not declining
in concentration under active remediation. AGE recommends continuing the limited groundwater
monitoring, and operation of the soil vapor extraction/air sparging treatment system while conducting an
evaluation of additional technologies to treat the dissolved plume.
We concur to AGE's recommendations. In the Report, AGE did not indicate if maintenance of the
SVE/AS system had been conducted during the second half of 2013, therefore we cannot determine if
system optimization has been performed. After our review of the Second Semi-Annual Remediation
Status Report 2013, which is due 30 April 2014, we may request the evaluation of additional
technologies to treat the dissolved plume which may include a work plan to conduct a pilot study of the
preferred remedy.
We also request that AGE optimize the SVE/AS treatment system in an attempt to increase the efficiency
of the SVE/AS system, and report the effectiveness of those efforts in the next semi-annual remediation
status report and groundwater monitoring report, which is due 30 July 2014.
If you have any questions or comments, you may call (916) 464-4615 or email
ibarton(cr_waterboards.ca.gov.
JAMES L.L.
