The Transmission Store - 2 - 11 April 2013
515 W. Charter Wy., Stockton
San Joaquin County
configuration with written SVE/AS system optimization recommendation(s). I suggested that
AGE provide a cost comparison between conducting a limited in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO)
injection versus the two additional AS wells, and include a geologic cross-section to show
current plume distribution. The Email included an attached geologic cross section showing the
groundwater plume located between 30' bgs and 60' bgs. The Email stated the cost for the two
shallow screened 45' bgs AS wells would be $7,000 to install and plumb into the existing
treatment system, versus the $7,500 to $8,500 to conduct an ISCO pilot study and remediation.
Temporary batch groundwater extraction from MW-7S was rejected due to the high cost of the
groundwater disposal.
By 30 April 2013, please submit a workplan to install the two additional air sparge wells and,
upon receipt of my workplan approval, install and plumb the new wells by 30 June 2013.
Continue air sparging in the interim. Submit the remediation status report with
recommendations as necessary in the semi-annual groundwater monitoring report by
30 July 2013. You are also to provide monthly email status reports by the 15th of each month
(May 15th, June 15th, etc.) on the progress towards modifying the SVE/AS treatment system until
further notice. If you have any questions, you may call me at (916) 464-4615 or email me at
ibarton(aD-waterboards.c--a--.goov--.
i
/James L. L.
