• v
nexmn ,
Summary
Data was collected at 515 West Charter Way, Stockton, CA using the MIP (Membrane
Interface Probe) and a Geoprobe 6600 at 7 sampling locations, collecting data from the
surface to as deep as 67' bgs An ECD (Electron Capture Detector), PID (Photo
Ionization Detector) and a FID (Flame Ionization Detector) were used with a Hewlett
' Packard 5890 Gas Chromatograph
The purpose of this MIP project was to determine if the MIP could provide a better
' definition of subsurface contaminant distribution over traditional soil and groundwater
sampling in addition to identify a possible submersed petroleum source area
Contaminant Mass:
ECD detections were noted at all MIP borings ECD detections were primarily located
between 24' bgs to 6l'bgs The highest ECD detection 1 0E+6 was noted at MIP-4 which
was at approximately 59 bgs ECD detections are an indication of halogenated
compounds--
PID
oin ounPID detections were noted at all MIP borings PID detections were primarily located
between 24' bgs to 61' bgs The highest PID detection 4 0E+7 was noted at MIP-2 which
was noted approximately 46' bgs FID detections are an indication of double bonded
compounds
FID detections were noted at all MIP boring FID detections were primarily located
between 24' bgs to 61' bgs The highest FID detection 14E+7 was noted at MIP-2 which
was noted approximately 45' bgs FID detections are an indication of combustible Z
hydrocarbons
Soil Conductivity:
A lower conductive or higher permeable zone was noted from 42' bgs to 60' bgs The
conductivity of soils is different for each type of media Finer grained sediments, such as
silts or clays, will have a higher EC signal While coarser grained sediments, sands and
gravel, will have a lower EC signal
Confirmation Samples:
Based on soil confirmation results and information provided by Shaw E&I, ECD, PID,
and FID responses are a result of petroleum hydrocarbons Detector responses primarily
' are located between 24' bgs to 61' bgs MIP-4 and MIP-5 seemed to have shallower
detection responses in comparison to all other MIP borings This would be consistent
with the prior location of one of the former UST tanks illustrated on page 6 of this report
Confirmation soil analytical results indicate a good correlation with PID and FID results
and support the location of majority of contaminant mass at the site between 24' to 60'
bgs
'
