(Aegis), has evaluated the existing remediation system and
previous subsurface investigation results subsequent to project transfer from Delta
Environmental Consultants, Inc., of Rancho Cordova, California, and has presented
recommendations to Shell Oil Company (Shell).
Floating liquid hydrocarbon recovery has been implemented utilizing non-mechanical
skimmers located in three wells, and is ongoing as of July 8, 1992.
Shell is scheduled to operate the previously installed vapor extraction system. The air
discharge permit and permit-to-operate have been completed and submitted to the local
air pollution control district. Aegis is awaiting final approval to begin operation.
In a review of site and area-specific information, Aegis has uncovered significant data to
indicate that a more detailed investigation for off-site contributor's is warranted. There are
a number of site assessments underway and data from those site assessments is critical
to the proper placement of future off-site wells in the vicinity of the subject site. Upon
completion of the off-site contributor's investigations, Aegis will evaluate the possibility of
additional site assessment activities as necessary.
91-2468.LTR
GEOLOGISTS • ENGINEERS • GROUNDWATER SCIENTISTS
