(Cambria) on your behalf for the above-referenced site.
In this work plan, Cambria proposes the advancement of seven cone penetration test (CPT)
borings (CPT-12 through CPT-18) and twinned direct-push borings to assess soil lithology
and stratigraphy and collect soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis.
EHD approves the advancement of the proposed seven CPT and twinned direct-push
borings as follows:
• CPT-12 will be advanced in the sidewalk adjacent to the Best Western Motel on
West Charter Way and CPT-13 will be advanced in the parking lot on the east side
of the Best Western Motel to assess the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon and
methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) contamination in groundwater. Both borings
will be advanced to a total depth of approximately 100 feet below surface grade
(bsg) and groundwater samples will be collected at approximately 50, 65, 70, 75,
and 90 feet bsg at twinned borings adjacent to CPT-12 and CPT-13. No soil
samples will be collected.
• CPT-14, CPT-15, and CPT-16 will be advanced to approximately 40 feet bsg
approximately 25 feet west, northeast, and east of the existing underground storage
tanks (UST), respectively, to assess soil and groundwater contamination in the
shallow subsurface. Soil samples will be collected at twinned borings adjacent to
CPT-14 and CPT-15 at approximately 20, 30, and 40 feet bsg, and at least one grab
groundwater sample will be collected from the three twinned borings at depths
between 20 and 40 feet. No soil samples will be collected at CPT-16.
