You
can reach him at 209.468.3442. 1 will be working with Gabe as this case is moved to closure.
The San Joaquin County Well Standards do no specify the pressure or time requirements for applying pressure
when a well is pressure grouted. If our agency approves pressure grouting these wells, twenty-five pounds per
square inch of liquid pressure must be applied for at least ten minutes. San Joaquin County Well Standards
do require that"If the well casing was left in place during the sealing operations, a hole at least one foot larger in
diameter than the originally drilled hole shall be excavated around the outside of the well casing to a depth of 3
feet below the ground surface, and the well casing shall then be cut off 6 inches above the bottom of this
excavation and removed. The grout used to fill the well shall be allowed to spill over the excavation during the
sealing operation, and fill it for a thickness of one foot and form a "cap"which has a diameter of at least one foot
greater than the diameter of the originally drilled hole."
If our agency approves the variance request, does Conestoga-Rovers and Associates agree to these terms when
proposing to pressure grout these four wells?
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartnev(&sicehd.com
Ca
)PLO.,
O.,
From: Silva, Larry [mailto:lsilva@craworld.com]
Sent: Tuesday, June 10, 2014 1:47 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: John Yoakum [EH]; Arganbright, Cristina; Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]
Subject: 620 West Charter Way, Stockton -Variance Request
Good Afternoon Ms. McCartney,
When on site with our subsurface utility clearance contractor we identified several subsurface conflicts
that pose safety concerns should we destroy these wells by over-drill methods. As a result,we are
requesting that CRA destroy these wells by pressure grout methods per San Joaquin County Well
Standard requirements versus by over-drilling.
Details are as follows:
• MW-3.This well is located in close proximity(within 2-3 feet)from electrical utilities. See
attached picture.
• MW-7.This well is located in close proximity(within 2-3 feet)from an electrical utility. See
6/10/2014
