a
Equilon Enterprises -5- `.•' February 22, 2010
Claim No. 4954
E. Contaminant Exposure Pathway Evaluation: unknown
F. Recommendation:
In March 2008, the Fund made the following recommendation: The Fund
recommends that the San Joaquin County LOP direct the Responsible Party to
monitor newly installed monitoring wells for a full hydrologic cycle prior to .
assessing the need to conduct active remediation on the deeper zones (50+
feet). The Fund will review this site next year to track progress.
— -UPDATED, Match 2009 T-he-Fund-recommend s-that-the-San-Joaquin--County- - - —
LOP direct the Responsible Party to assess remedial technologies that can
reduce the mass of fuel hydrocarbons in the deeper zones. The Fund will review
this site next year to track progress.
UPDATED, March 2010: This site has been under investigation for 20 years and
no active remediation has been conducted since 1996. The extent of
contamination has been defined and the plume is shrinking in size and
concentration. Water Quality Objectives are likely to be achieved without further
active remediation. Based on the following criteria, the Fund recommends this
site be considered for closure.
The source of the UST release has been identified and removed.
• Free-phase product in groundwater has been removed to the full extent
practicable, in accordance with the UST Regulations (Title 23, CCR,
Section 2655).
• Contaminants remaining in the vadose zone cannot migrate in soil vapor
or leach at concentrations that would cause groundwater to exceed water
quality objectives.
• There are no existing water supply wells, surface waters or other
receptors threatened by the remaining contaminants in soil or .
groundwater.
• Pollutants remaining in groundwater do not create or threaten to create
risk to human health and safety, or to future beneficial use(s) of the
groundwater.
• The plume size is stable and sufficiently delineated in lateral and vertical
extent and contaminant concentrations detected in groundwater show a
decreasing trend with time.
• There are no current or anticipated uses of the impacted groundwater
within the timeframe projected to meet water quality objectives.
California En vironmental Protection Agency
C,?Recycled Paper
