550 Charter Way Page 2 of 5
Mike:
I assume S-10 is MW-10 and S-11 is MW-11.
When do you pian to install the two monitoring wells MW-15-50 and MW-15-50?
Vicki McCartney,Senior REHS
San Joaquin County °
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Phone: (209)468-9852
Fax: (209)468-3433
E-mail: vmccartney@sjcehd.com
From: Murphy, Mike [mailto:mrmurphy@craworld.com]
Sent: Thursday,January 10, 2008 12:51 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Subject: RE: 550 Charter Way
We originally intended to use the rotosonic rig for all wells except S-11. The roto rig uses an outer
casing to seal off shallower zones. This was primarily a concern for the onsite borings where
elevated COCs have been detected in various zones. Based on utilities, access issues with the
Market site, etc. we intend to use a limited access rig. The drillers have said that they cannot do
conductor casings with this type of rig. Since offsite shallow groundwater in the vicinity of SAO is
generally clean, we are not concerned with shallow groundwater mixing with deeper groundwater
during drilling of well S-15-50. Therefore, no conductor casing is needed. Grab groundwater data
for CPT-17 (west of well S-15-77) shows that the 50 foot zone is not impacted. This again suggests
that conductor casing is not needed. However, if we wanted to 100% safe, we should install S-15-
50 and sample before installing S-15-77. If clean, that confirms no need for conductor casings. 1
just wanted you to now our plan. Let me know your thoughts and how you think we should proceed
Thanks
Mike Murphy
Conestoga-Rovers &Associates (CRA)
19449 Riverside Drive, Suite 230
Sonoma, CA 95476
P.
