09 July 1998
AGE-NC-97-0326
dispenser island extends to depths greater than 30 feet bsg, this boring will be extended to ground
water and completed as a ground water monitoring well. The proposed ground water monitoring well
construction diagram is included as Figure 3.
Monitoring wells will be developed utilizing a submersible pump or bailer. Water will be purged
from each well until purged water is essentially sediment free. Purged ground water will be stored
on-site in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums.
3.4. GROUND WATER MONITORING/SAMPLING
No sooner than 72 hours after installation, ground water monitoring will be performed for each well.
The depth to water and total depth for each well will be measured. A precleaned submersible pump
or dedicated bailer will be used to purge a minimum of three casing volumes from each well.
Stabilization parameters will be measured in the purged water at regular intervals. Following well
recharge of at least 80 percent, a sample will be collected from each well. Purged water will be
placed in 55-gallon DOT containers and stored on-site pending analytical results of water samples.
Ground water flow direction data from the nearby USA gasoline station is inferred to be the same
for the subject property.
3.5. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Samples will be transported under chain-of-custody in a chilled container to a state-certified
laboratory for analysis. Selected soil samples and ground water samples will be analyzed for:
• total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015m/5030
• volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes: BTE&X) in accordance
with EPA Method 8020/602
• oxygenates(methyl tert-butyl ether[MTBE],di-isopropyl ether[DIPE],ethyl tert-butyl ether
[ETBE], tert-amyl methyl ether [TAME] and tert-butanol [TBA]) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260.
Laboratory reports, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports,
and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be presented in a report with the findings and
recommendations.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
