UST Pre-upgrade Assessment Work Plan
April 1997
K&S GAS & GROCERY
701 East Charter Way, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Khaldoon Othman of K&S Gas & Grocery, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this UST Pre-upgrade Assessment Work Plan for the
collection of soil samples at 701 East Charter Way, Stockton,California. The scope of work includes
the advancement of four soil probe borings at the underground storage tank (UST) locations. The
location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 - Location Map. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure
2 - Site Plan.
This Work Plan is prepared in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of UST sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is located in a flat, commercial area of Stockton, California on the northeast comer of
Charter Way and Stanislaus Street. It is our understanding that two 12,000-gallon single-walled
gasoline USTs were installed at the site in 1972. The USTs will be upgraded by tank lining. One
1,000-gallon double-walled UST is also located at the site.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
3.1. PROBING AND SAMPLING
AGE proposes to initially advance four soil probe boring (probing) at the site. Probings will be
advanced at an angle of approximately 25° from vertical, near both ends of each UST, to depths of
approximately 15 to 20 feet below surface grade (bsg); Probings may be advanced to greater depths
or additional probings installed based upon field observations. Probings will be advanced using
AGEs Geoprobe soil probing unit. Soil samples will be collected at 5 foot intervals, beginning at 10
feet bsg, from each probing. The proposed probing locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
3.2. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
All probing rods, sampling tools and sample liners used for sample collection will be thoroughly
rinsed with clean water after washing with a solution of Alconox.
