In July 1999 , we drilled an additional monitoring well BM- 12 to 80 feet. This was reported in our
report dated August 5 , 1999 .
In November 2000 two borings B-2 and B-3 were drilled and on December 7 , 2000 one monitoring
(BM-13) well was drilled . This was reported in our Drilling Activity Report dated December 14,
2000 .
INTRODUCTION
The Environmental Health Dept. of San Joaquin County (EHD) letter dated April 13 , 2004
requested a work plan be presented to define the vertical and lateral limits of the unauthorized
release at this station . The lateral extension has been defined, except for the area from the site
property to the south side of Charter Way. We talked with the City of Stockton and they informed
us that it is not permitted to drill a well in the traffic lanes of Charter Way. There are two sewer
lines located on Charter Way , (shown on a map) in the area south of the old tank pit on our site .
There also is a large telephone line conduit along the south side of Charter Way.
In October 1994 we attempted to drill a monitoring well on the south side of Charter Way. We had
this well site checked by U S Alert and they advised us that drilling was not possible on the south
side of Charter Way or the adjoining sidewalk. With this information it seems unlikely that we will
be able in drill and install monitoring well MW- 14 on the south side of Charter Way. However, we
will have US Alert check this location again .
The vertical definition of the release was defined by boring (B-2) we drilled on November 6, 2000.
We followed the instructions of Carol Oz of the EHD and found the soil was not contaminated from
85 feet to 90 feet. According to Miss Oz this was enough proof that the depth of the release was
found vertically.
WORK PROPOSAL
Lateral
For the lateral definition we propose monitoring well MW- 14 along the south side of Charter Way.
The boring will be drilled to a depth of 45 feet bgs. The water table is presently at 37 feet. Well
samples will be taken every 5 feet to the bottom of the boring . The well screen casing will be from
25 to 45 feet and blank casing will be from 25 feet to the top of the boring . Number 3 sand will be
placed in the annulus from 45 to 22 feet and a plug of bentonite will be placed from 22 to 19 feet.
Cement will be placed from 19 feet to 5 inches below the top of the well casing . The well will be
caped with a locking cap and a traffic box will be placed on surface to protect the well .
Vertical
CGG proposes to drill another boring (B-4) in the center of the old tank pit to a depth of where we
are confident that the contamination has not penetrated . Soil samples will be taken every 5 feet
and will be logged . Water samples will be taken every 10 feet starting at 60 feet bgs to the depth
of the boring . We will use Spectrum Exploration Drilling to drill both borings.
