(GTI) on your behalf. In the WP, GTI proposes to
advance four cone penetration test (CPT) borings to characterize subsurface lithology
and identify permeable strata, and to advance push borings adjacent to the CPT borings
to collect soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis. GTI proposes to
advance the borings to a total depth of 90 feet below surface grade (bsg). GTI proposed
the work to investigate increasing contaminant concentrations in groundwater samples
collected from monitoring well MW-208 and the down-gradient extent of impacted
groundwater from MW-209 and to complete the site conceptual model.
The depth of investigation, 90 feet bsg, appears to be appropriate as a significant sand
interval has been encountered at depths between 70 and 80 feet bsg on the nearby, up-
gradient 701 East Charter Way site, and the sand is a potential contaminant migration
pathway. The proposed boring locations appear to be adequate to meet the stated
investigation goals. The proposed scope of work is approved.
Please submit a drilling permit application and $89.00 fee for each parcel to be
investigated and a copy of any access agreements for parcels adjacent to the subject, if
appropriate, for the CPT and push point boring installations. Please inform EHD at least
72 hours prior to the initiation of any field work.
