Charter Way, Stockton, CA <br /> County Site Code: 1061; USTCFP Claim 46793 <br /> Dear Ms. Sanborn: <br /> r <br /> In a letter from San Joaquin County, dated May 3, 2000, Ms. Carol Oz requested that additional <br /> monitoring wells be installed to define the vertical and lateral extent of soil and groundwater <br /> contamination at the site, located at Morita Brothers, 814 E. Charter Way, Stockton, California. <br /> To accomplish this directive, Geological Technics Inc. (GITI) has prepared a work plan dated <br /> July 7, 2000 with subsequent addendum regarding well placement and design issues. Ms. Oz <br /> approved the work plan on August 8, 2000. <br /> Summary of Current Corrective Action Proposal <br /> 1. San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) <br /> issued a May 3, 2000 directive to install additional monitoring wells. <br /> 2. GTI submitted July 7, 2000 work plan for one deep screened monitoring well to be placed <br /> near the former product dispenser island. <br /> 3. In a July 17, 2000 correspondence, PHS/EHD disapproved July 7, 2000 work plan and <br /> directed additional monitoring wells down gradient of former UST excavation. <br /> 4. On July 17, 2000 GTI submitted an addendum reiterating the need for source area vertical <br /> definition prior to installing down gradient deep-screened wells. <br /> 5. In a July 20, 2000 correspondence, PHS/EHD disapproved GTI July 17, 2000 addendum <br /> /work plan and directed additional monitoring wells down gradient of former UST <br /> excavation. <br /> 6. On July 28, 2000 GTI submitted an addendum including provisions for two additional <br /> shallow and two additional deep screened monitoring wells. <br /> 7. In an August 1, 2000 correspondence, PHS/EHD approved the GTI July 7, 2000 and <br /> addendum#2 with conditions. <br /> 8. GTI submitted a well construction diagram via facsimile on August 2, 2000, which was <br /> approved via telephone message from Ms. Carol Oz on August 3, 2000. <br /> 'i <br />
