CHARTER WAY, STOCKTON, CA
PREPARED BY JIM THORPE OIL, INC. , FEBRUARY 12, 1993
Addendum prepared by We. J. Hunter & Associates
PURPOSE OF WORK:
To remove additional contamination from the west wall of the
excavation encountered during field work performed March 31 &
April 1 , 1993.
REVIEW OF WORK PERFORMED UNDER ABOVE WORKPLAN:
On March 31st and April 1st, 1993, Jim Thorpe Oil , Inc. (JTO, )
removed approximately 700 Cy of spoil from the area which had
been the site of 3 underground gasoline storage tanks and 1 waste
all tank. Those tanks had been removed in December , 1991 ; soil
samples taken from beneath the tanks revealed the presence of
BTEX & TPH-G at 12 " which exceeded allowable limits for leaving
. in place; refer to the above referenced workplan for more
i
details.
The final configuration of the work performed by JTO is shown on
the attached plan view (A) & section view (B) sketches of the
excavation; the dimensions are approximately 40 'x 35 'x 21 ' deep.
The north-south trench is approximately 42 long , 8 wide, and
averages about b deep. The locations of the samples, with
laboratory results, are indicated on plan view map. Total lead
(EPA 7420, ) was below 20 mg/kg in all samples.
Those laboratory results indicate that the only area which stall
has measureable amounts of contamination is on the west side and
northwest corner of the excavation, as revealed by sample ID 's
W-1 , W-2. and N--1 . A small amount of Xylene was detected in the
sample taken from the north end of the trench; (T-3. ) All other
samples were below detection levels for £BTEX & TFH-G.
After analyzing the results of the above work , it is suggested
that excavating some additional spoil from the west side and
northwest corner of the excavation might be able to remove the
remaining contamination in that area. A brief workplan to
accomplish that work follows.
WORKPLAN FOR REMOVING ADDITIONAL SOIL FROM EXISTING EXCAVATION:
1 . Using JTO equipment & personel , remove an additional 5 feet
