A revised `method andmaterials' proposal that complies
with the following details is to be submitted.
• Monitoring wells that are/have been historically non-detect for dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbons may have the well casing backfilled with the thinnest
neat cement grout allowed (94 pounds of P rtland cement to 10 gallons of
potable water) and pressurized until the ca ing remains filled to the surface. The
casing/borehole is then to be drilled to 5-feet below the surface ('bgs) with an fl-
inch auger. The auger is then to be filled Wth neat cement grout (thicker is
allowed). The auger is to be removed and I he borehole is to be filled with neat
cement grout to at least 3.5' bgs. (or to the 3urface, if required).
• Monitoring wells that data shows currently i patted by contaminants, are to
have the contents of the well removed and he borehole back-filled to at least
3.5' bgs with neat cement grout. For wells here the PVC casing can be pulled
up before drilling out, the bottom cap of the casing is to be separated from the
casing before the entire casing is pulled up two feet or more. With the bottom
cap removed, the PVC casing is to be used as a tremie pipe for injecting neat
cement grout into the bottom of the borehole. Field techniques for removing the
contents of the well may be modified in the field if approved by the EHD
inspector at the time of the well destruction. !
BY:
Michael Infurna, REHS (209) 468-3454
c: Rebecca Natal —AGE, 837 Shaw Rd., Stockton, CA. 95205
l
j
