PHS-EHD offers the following comments for your
consideration.
Review of groundwater contaminant concentrations over time and of depth to water data over time
reveal the following:
Depth to water increased over time.
The 'bore" monitoring wells contaminant concentrations increased over time.
The perimeter wells showed either stable or decreasing concentrations over time.
Based on these observations, remediation at the site should be concentrated in the "core" area
only at this time. This will likely reduce the hydrocarbon mass in this area to a stable or declining
state and will reduce the overall cleanup costs for the site. Please proceed with a specific design
and cost estimate for a modified remediation system for the "core" area and submit to PHS-EHD
for review.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda
Turkatte, Senior REHS , at (209) 468-3441 .
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division (
Linda A.
