One to two samples from each boring were
submitted for analysis. Selection of the samples analyzed was based on field observations,
depth in the boring, and PID field screening results. Fifteen of the 44 samples collected
were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)purgeable (5030) by EPA Method
5020;TPH extractable (3550)by GC-PID; and benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,and xylene
(BTEX)by EPA Method 8020.
The chain-of-custody form and laboratory data sheets are included in Appendix B. Total
petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in 10 of the 15 samples analyzed. Total petroleum
hydrocarbon concentrations above 100 mg/kg were detected in threeof the samples (B-1
20.5 feet, B-125.5 feet, and B-2 21 feet). Benzsne was detected at concentrations ranging
from 6.5 to 1,200 ug/kg in 10 samples. The analytical results are summarized on Table 2.
J
188-89-960 5
