1 '
'17 June 2003
AGE-NC Project No 95-0121
' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
,The depths to ground water in wells MW-1 through MW-7 were measured at between 17 12 and
' 18 06 feet below the tops ofwell casings The ground water elevations were calculated to be between
10 77 feet(MW-6) and 11 26 feet(MW-2)below mean sea level The ground water elevation data
obtained during this monitoring event are depicted in Figure 3 The inferred ground water flow
' direction for the area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-7 was inferred to be towards the northeast
at a gradient of 0 004 ft/ft or less, or approximately 21 feet per mile (Figure 3)
I
3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1 through MW-4 and MW-7 at
concentrations ranging between 6,000 micrograms per liter(µg/1)and 35,000,ug/1(Figure 4) TPH-d
' was detected in the same samples at concentrations as high as 3,700µg/1 from MW-3,however,the
laboratory reported that all TPH-d sample chromatograms as having significant gasoline range
compounds
BTEX constituents were detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1 through
MW-4 and MW-7 at concentrations ranging as high as 8,400µg/1 of benzene in MW-2
' Utilizing EPA Method 8260B, MTBE was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1
through MW-5 at concentrations'ranging between 1 6 µg/1 and 150 µg/1 TBA was detected in a
' water sample collected from MW-lat a concentration of 80 µg/1 No other fuel components were
detected during the laboratory analysis
' Previous and current analytical results of ground water monitoring well samples are summanzed in
Tables 3 and 4 The laboratory reports (McCampbell Analytical Inc Work Order 0303134) and
chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix C
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
r
The implications from the March 2003 ground water monitoring event are as follows
' Groundwater flow direction for the area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-7 was inferred
to be towards the northeast at a gradient of 0 004 ft/ft or less (Figure 3) Due to the low
gradient at the site, slight variations in ground water measurements or changes of
recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water flow
direction
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
