'I <br /> Monitonng wells MW-1 through MW-6 were previously surveyed in April 1992 <br />'I After water levels were measured, a submersible purge pump was used to purge monitoring <br /> wells MW-2 through MW-9 MW-1 was not purged due to the presence of free product <br /> Five to 10 gallons (minimum of three well volumes) of water were removed from each <br />' purged well Temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at one-gallon intervals <br /> Additional water was purged from MW-7, MW-8 and MW-9 to develop these wells <br /> Stabilization data and held logs are included in Appendix B The purge water was stored <br />' <br /> in 55-gallon drums on-site A water sample was collected from MW-2 through MW-9 using <br /> a new disposable plastic bailer At the request of the PHS/EHD, a sample was also collected <br /> from MW-1 The samples were collected in 40-m1 EPA vials and one-liter amber bottles <br />' 3.5 Laboratory Analysis of Soil and Ground►iater Samples <br />' Selected soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum h)drocarbons (TPH as gasoline and <br /> diesel) and volatile aromatics (BTESX) in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 8020. <br /> respectively Water samples were analyzed for TPH (gasoline and diesel) and BTE&,X in <br />' accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 602, respectively <br />' 4.0 FINDINGS <br /> 4.1 Stratigraphy <br /> Clayey to sandy silts were present from the surface to a depth of 10 to 15 feet Fine grained <br />' sand was encountered fiom below the silts to depths of 30 to 35 feet Sandy silts "ere then <br /> encountered in Boiing B-17 fiom 35 feet to 45 feet Boring logs fiom the installation of <br /> MW-1 to MW-3 indicated sands thiouahout most of the borings Boring logs from the <br /> installation of MW-4 to MW-6 indicated finer-grained materials, predominantly clays and <br />' silts Boring Logs are included in Appendix A <br /> 4.2 Organic Vapor Concentrations <br /> During drilling, auger returns and soil sample duplicates were screened for organic vapors <br />' using the PID Organic vapors were detected in the 25-foot and 30-foot samples from <br /> boring B-15 at concentrations of 9 ppm and 24 ppm, respectively Organic vapors were <br /> detected in boring B-17 (MW-7) at concentrations up to 244 ppm <br />' No organic vapors were detected during the didling of borings B-14 (MW-9) or B-16 (MW- <br /> S) Organic vapor readings are included on the boring logs (Appendix A) <br />' 4.3 Analytical Results of Soil Samples <br /> A total of 11 soil samples were transmitted to a state certified laboratory for analysis TPH <br /> C-1,-1�Q'1 hGf Servarr 1- <br /> W— 6 <br /> k; &MC4S Nom U�QR1A2 9� <br />
