Charter Way, Stockton
Dear Mr. Weiss;
I just recently received a copy of your correspondence dated
December 7, addressed to John Welch, concerning our November 7
workplan for a soil & groundwater investigation at the above
site. You gave a deadline of January 6, 1995 for submitting an
amended workplan which was to include at least three (3) ground-
water monitoring wells & further investigation in the area of the
removed leach field.
Several events have recently occurred which need to be considered
prior to preparing that amended workplan. They include:
1. Three (3) UST' s which had contained diesel fuel were recently
removed from the property. They were located approximately 100
feet east of the large maintainence building, and west of the
Nomellini property. Soil samples taken from 37' bgl, (at the
approximate groundwater depth, ) revealed the presence of ethyl-
benzene, toluene, & diesel. The workplan for a groundwater
investigation previously submitted will need to be expanded to
include this site.
2. Soil borings & monitoring wells are being installed in
association with the contamination problem on the Nomellini
property immediately to the east. At least one of those
monitoring wells is located on the Independent Trucking site.
The results of that work will be made available to us so that we
can include that data in our workplan. However, we do not know
when that information will be furnished.
3. There are several other active soil/groundwater investiga-
tions in the immediate vicinity of 1145 W. Charter Way which have
not yet been reviewed. The data from those sites should provide
useful information to assist us in our investigation. A very
heavy workload has not allowed us to conduct those file reviews
to date; we' plan on doing so as soon as possible.
1
