Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2014 4:30 PM
To: 'Dumisani, Kenyatta@Waterboards'
Cc: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: RE: Current 14/15 Remediation cycle for J.M. EQUIPMENT COMPANY CASE#: 9401, USTCF Claim
#: 12607
Good afternoon Kenyatta,
In response to your question b low, the answer is"yes", additional remediation technologies have been
considered for the J. M. Equipment Company Case No. 9401, USTCF Claim No. 12607. Please refer to the San
Joaquin County Environmenta Health Department(EHD) letters dated 15 November 2010 and 24 June 2011 for
this agency's responses to pro Dosals previously submitted by the responsible party's consulting firm.
The current analytical data for his site are from groundwater samples collected in December 2013. Within the
last several months of 2014, additional injection and monitoring wells have been installed at this site. I would like
to receive and review current analytical data to determine the effects of injecting hydrogen peroxide now that
these four additional injection wells have been installed. I don't think that it would be appropriate to pursue a
different direction without having information from the current remedial method.
I have spoken to Nuel Henderson, PG, concerning this site; Nuel is not available now to review this case since
he is busy completing the Lowkhreat Closure Policy checklists for the San Joaquin County sites that must be
completed by the end of June 2014; Nuel has indicated that he would review this case in July 2014. Hopefully by
then there will be a report submitted that provides current site conditions and discusses the effects of injecting
hydrogen peroxide.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Departrr1ent
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartnev(dsicehd.com
ow)
From: Dumisani, Kenyatta@Waterboards [mailto:Kenyatta.Dumisani@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2014 10:45 AM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Subject: RE: Current 14/15 Remediation cycle for J.M. EQUIPMENT COMPANY CASE #: 9401, USTCF
Claim #: 12607
Hello Ms. McCartney,
I am reviewing the current 14/15 FY Budget Change Request(BCR)for this claim, as submitted by Ground
Zero Analysis, Inc, in thg amount of$156,472. This amount requested, is in addition to the pre-defined
CAP/REM 14/15 FY budget allotment of$77,000,for a total annual budget of$233,472.
1 was wondering if addi ional remediation technologies have been considered for this site, alternative to
air sparging (past) and 'peroxide injections(ongoing). It appears that a secondary source may be present
in the soil, and also groundwater contamination levels remain extremely elevated in the center of the
plume. The commitment on this site has reached$866,010 to date and with the potential for the Fund
6/24/2014
