SITE HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN
1.0 INTRODUCTION
A. Overview
This Project Safety Plan delineates the basic safety requirements
for the Exploratory Soil Boring, and Ground Water Well Installation
Program at the Safeway Meat Packing Facility located at 1111 Navy
Drive in Stockton, California.
Six (6) soil borings will be drilled with soil samples taken at
varied intervals to 25 feet. One (1) Groundwater well will be
installed at a depth of 35 feet. The boring will be completed as 4
inch diameter groundwater monitoring wells unless the ' maximum depth
is reached without contacting groundwater.
The analyses of the soil and ground water well samples will include
a determination of the following possible contaminants present: TFHC
(Total Fuel Hydrocarbons), Ethyl Benzene, and BTX Compounds
(Benzene, Toluene, and Xylenes).
Western Geologic Resources will follow the Standard Operating
Procedure (SOP) for Hollow-Stem Auger Monitoring Well Installation
and Development, edition number Oct/88 At the beginning of the
project, ambient air samples (background) will be taken with a PID
(Photoionization Detector) ' to determine the presence or absence of
contamination. As the project continues during the day, the
personnel on site shall draw periodic air samples to determine the
possibility of increases in airborne contamination.
4 I
