The USGS benchmark is a 3/4-inch von
John E.Koch,
pin monument at the intersection of Fresno Street and Navy Drive. The potentiometric surface of the
shallow groundwater for 3 October 1989 is shown in Figure 6. Grount'water flow beneath the site was
ti .{ in an east southeast direction at a very shallow gradieet of about 0.1%. Sample calculation A shows how
the gradient was derived.t This groundwater flow direction is contradictory of the northwest
groundwater flow direction estimated for 11 September 1987,and the north groundwater flow direction
estimated for 28 March 1986.
ifi
A surveyWwell tog idented ten
of California Department of Water Resources (D
R)
registered wells within a one-half mile radius of the site and three admit--nal wells possibly within
one-half mile of the site. Fioure 7 is a map of the area ccvered by the survey and the approximate
locations of surrounding wells. One domestic well and ten industrial wells art, located north of the site.
One domestic well is iocated south of the site. One industrial well is located west of the site. None of
these wells are known to occur wil'iun 1000 It of the site.
