e w!t <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento Cahfomn 95834-1943 • 1916)928-3300• Fax(916}928-3341 <br /> �J <br /> RECEIVED October 3, 1997 <br /> OCT 13 <br /> 1947 Project 22794-100 001 <br /> Mr Jeff Brown EWRAFFAIRSAFUSM <br /> Safeway, Inc. <br /> 5918 Stoneridge Malt Road <br /> Pleasanton, California 94588-3299 <br /> Re Project Status on the Revised Case Closure Report for the Former Safeway Meat <br /> Plant, Stockton, California <br /> I <br /> Dear Mr Brown <br /> This letter presents the activities EMCON has conducted towards preparing a revised Case <br /> Closure Report (CCR) for the subject site in the second quarter of 1997 <br /> We have been delayed in submJtt>ng a revised CCR in the third quarter of 1997 due to a ` <br /> very busy field season in which key personnel assigned to this project were out of the <br /> office With the field season ending, revising the CCR will be a priority project that will be <br /> • completed in the fourth quarter of 1997 (November) <br /> Of those tasks previously recommended to revise the CCR, EMCON has conducted the <br /> following during the third quarter 1997 <br /> • Prepared concentration contour maps and mass balance calculations of <br /> hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater - <br /> • Obtained copies (via Dennis Miller) of most of the soil sample laboratory results <br /> in Table 1 of Appendix B of the CCR Those laboratory results which have not <br /> been located have been supplemented with additional soil sample laboratory <br /> _ results in the area of concern which should preclude conducting additional <br /> assessment to confirm the data presented in Table 1 <br /> Upcoming activities to complete the revised CCR will include the following: <br /> • Conducting a site visit to identify adjacent facilities with diesel fuel tanks and to <br /> identify the route of petroleum pipelines that transmit fuel products to the fuel <br /> distribution terminals at the Port of Stockton <br /> E <br /> • Identifying sites with fuel tanks by conducting a regulatory agency file review to <br /> determine the status of these sites <br /> SAC\N\PJ2\2794\2794WOO!BS-96V1b 2 _ <br /> 3 <br />
