e w!t 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento Cahfomn 95834-1943 • 1916)928-3300• Fax(916}928-3341 �J RECEIVED October 3, 1997 OCT 13 1947 Project 22794-100 001 Mr Jeff Brown EWRAFFAIRSAFUSM Safeway, Inc. 5918 Stoneridge Malt Road Pleasanton, California 94588-3299 Re Project Status on the Revised Case Closure Report for the Former Safeway Meat Plant, Stockton, California I Dear Mr Brown This letter presents the activities EMCON has conducted towards preparing a revised Case Closure Report (CCR) for the subject site in the second quarter of 1997 We have been delayed in submJtt>ng a revised CCR in the third quarter of 1997 due to a ` very busy field season in which key personnel assigned to this project were out of the office With the field season ending, revising the CCR will be a priority project that will be • completed in the fourth quarter of 1997 (November) Of those tasks previously recommended to revise the CCR, EMCON has conducted the following during the third quarter 1997 • Prepared concentration contour maps and mass balance calculations of hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater - • Obtained copies (via Dennis Miller) of most of the soil sample laboratory results in Table 1 of Appendix B of the CCR Those laboratory results which have not been located have been supplemented with additional soil sample laboratory _ results in the area of concern which should preclude conducting additional assessment to confirm the data presented in Table 1 Upcoming activities to complete the revised CCR will include the following: • Conducting a site visit to identify adjacent facilities with diesel fuel tanks and to identify the route of petroleum pipelines that transmit fuel products to the fuel distribution terminals at the Port of Stockton E • Identifying sites with fuel tanks by conducting a regulatory agency file review to determine the status of these sites SAC\N\PJ2\2794\2794WOO!BS-96V1b 2 _ 3
