Soil Sample Analysis The soil samples were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as T Diesel (TPH-D) by EPA Method 8015 (Modified) and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020. The soil samples analyzed for TPH-D were prepared by EPA Method 3550 using sonication. The soil samples analyzed for BTEX were prepared using EPA Method 5030 (purge and trap). Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in soil samples were analyzed and characterized by Gas Chromatography/Flame, Ionization Detection (GCFID) with a fused capillary column. Results of laboratory analyses of these soil samples are shown in Table 2-1 and illustrated on Figure 2-2. Drill Cuttings Approximately three cubic yards of cuttings were stockpiled at the rear of the Safeway Facility. Cuttings containing the hydrocarbons �-t have been mixed with the product X-19 for bioremediation on site. The X-19 material is a commercially prepared mixture of organic matter, nutrients, and micro-organisms designed to break down fuel �..' hydrocarbons. The cuttings were mixed with the X-19 product in a ratio of approximately one part X-19 to three parts of cuttings. During the mixing process, the moisture content of the mix was �. adjusted to provide ample moisture for the biodegradation process while maintaining adequate aerobic conditions.
