N I L Y i I L
__,AB0RAT0R .L Q
October 05 1995
e n U L3U V_7R
Krazan & Associates, Inc
Attn Bruce Myers OU 10
215 West Dakota U 1
Clovis, CA 93612
RE. BSK LAB ID Ch952585-18
Dear Mr Myers,
This letter is to inform you of particular observations and actions taken pertaining to
your samples
Qtngryattons,
Twenty-two sample sets were submitted to BSK Analytical Laborotories on September
25, 1995 The liquid sample described as KHP-9 is identified as BSK log number
2585-18 The containers received by the fab for 2585-18 consisted of (1) 16 oz
unpreserved plastic (1) 16 oz sulfuric acid preserved plastic, and (2) 40 ml
hydrochloric acid preserved glass
At the time of sample receipt the pH content wos checked on the sixteen ounce
(16 oz) sample containers It was noted by the analyst that the pH for each 2585-
18 sample was approximately 60, according to the pH strip Since the pH did not
indicate an acidic condition (pH 2 to 4), the bottle labeled as having sulfuric acid
was thought to have been incorrectly marked Therefore, the analyst crossed out
the acid indicator and removed the corrosive sticker This sample container was
then used to perform testing for pH, specific conductance (EC), chloride, and
sulfate
In accordance with EPA protocol a sulfuric acid preserved sample was not needed,
in this case, since nitrate testing was performed within 48 hours
Actions
Upon discovering that the sample was in fact acsdtfied, BSK LABS retested pH,
specific conductance (EC), chloride, and sulfate using the unacidified sample The
revised results are attached on the amended report
1 Enclosed are the final reoorts Should you have any questions you may phone me
at (1-800) 877-8310
Sincerely,
BSK ANALYTICAL LABORATORIES
Diane Brueggemann
Client Service Representative
kraz ob wn
1414 Stanisalus Street - Fresno, CA 93706 - Phone 209-497-2888, In CA 800-877-8310 Fax 209-485-6935
