MW-6, also in November 1991. Two quarters of groundwater
sampling from MW-6 have shown much lower TPH-diesel
' concentrations. In February 1992, TPH-diesel was detected at
0 6 mg/l, in May 1992, the measured concentration was 12 me
' The potential threat to groundwater is important and will not be
ignored by Safeway Based on the analytical results from well
sampling, however, groundwater impacts have been minimal.
' Cross-sectional diagrams were not provided
Cross sections for both soil and groundwater have been provided
' in this report (see Figures 2-7 through 2-12)
Status of investigation and cleanup activities including the results
' of all investigations completed to date
Sections 2 and 3 of this report summarize all of the work
completed on site to date
• Proposed continuing or next phase of the investigation
' Safeway has requested ERM to continue the current quarterly
groundwater monitoring program No other action is planned
• Method of cleanup proposed, schedule for the completion of the
investigation of the site, and remediation
No schedule has been prepared for further investigation. Based
on the lack of significant impacts to soils and groundwater, there
are no plans for remedial activities at the site.
I • Method and location of disposal of contaminated soils and
groundwater
ISoil cuttings from drilling activities are being biologically treated
on site Cuttings containing diesel have been mixed with the
commercially prepared product X-19 The X-19 material is a
mixture of organic matter, nutrients and micro-organisms
designed to break down fuel hydrocarbons. The X-19/soil mixture
will be sampled during the third quarter sampling event,
scheduled for August 1992
Purge water from the sampling events is stored in drums on site
A composite purge water sample collected in November 1991
showed no TPH present Recent sampling events have shown
TPH concentrations to be no greater than 12 mg/l. Since the
concentrations of diesel are so low, Safeway requests that the
County allow drummed water to be dumped into the sewer system
or be used for irrigation purposes on site
I
42
