Concerns Response/Action Attachments:
1. Category: High zinc content in paint dust.
Response:
Tuff Boy contacted paint suppler (Contract Coatings) about high level of zinc in current primer
used by Tuff Boy. Contract Coatings offered us an alternative product with assurances that the
new paint product meets the Cam 17 waste disposal requirements.
Action Taken:
Contract Coatings has agreed to switch out our current inventory with a new zinc compliant
primer effective immediately (see attached).
A Cam17 test will be performed on any future Tuff Boy generated paint dust waste and will be
kept in our records.
Tuff Boy will submit the test report to a geological analyst for proper review prior to making any
decision relating to the method of disposal.
2. Category: Managing, handling, storing and disposing of any paint dust waste that is
found to contain any metals that exceed the allowable limits.
Response:
Any paint dust waste generated by Tuff Boy will be tested prior to disposal and will be handled
as a hazardous material unless test results prove otherwise.
Action Taken:
Any paint dust waste that is determined to be hazardous will be collected and stored in 55
gallon drums. Further, any hazardous paint dust waste will remain on property no later than six
months from the date of collection. The material will then be hauled off as hazardous waste and
manifests will be mailed to you and also kept in our records for future review.
Please contact me if you need any additional information pertaining to this matter.
Best Regards,
Josh Harris
2
