A discussion regarding the inves-
tigation and clean-up actions for the Fast Gas station on Highway 12 in Lodi will
be included later in this letter.
The reports from I. T. Corporation reflec the results of an investigation to
determine if hydrocarbon existed beneath he stations prior to the sale of the
properties. Evidence of hydrocarbon was detected at each station in varying
amounts. Therefore, the recommended remedial actions will be site specific.
Furthermore, any remedial action will con ider the beneficial use of the resource
of concern and the likelihood of degrading that use. Again, Douglas takes the
position that any clean-up levels which are established will be based on econom-
ically and technically sound reasons.
The remaining discussion will focus on the conclusions and recommended remedial
actions for each station. Also, Douglas ias acquired data independently of
I. T. Corporation's reports from Fox Environmental Services Inc. which will be
reflected throughout this report.
DOUGLAS - LODI, CA
A summary of the findings of I. T. Corporation and the supplemental data supplied
by Fox Environmental Services Inc. , indicates that only MW-8 has detected free
product on the groundwater. In addition, the groundwater gradient is generally
from the north by northwest to the south by southeast according to the May and
June calculations, i. e. towards the Douglas property.
E
Additional monitoring wells have been installed by Fox Environmental Services
Inc. to the north, the east and the south of MW-8. These monitoring wells
i (MW-10, MW-11, and MW-12) have not detected any visible signs of hydrocarbon on
the groundwater as of July 14, 1985. Mr. James Miller and Ms. Laurie Cotulla
of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division have been kept informed
of these additional proceedings. Also, similar procedures as described in I. T.
jCorporation's report were used to install these additional monitoring wells.
