and south, along with redrilling certain other previously installed
wells to establish the true extent of the plume, prior to installing the
recovery well.
After examining the reports heretofore submitted by I. T. Corporation along
with our own, it becomes evident that th ground water gradiant at the
location changes direction from time to time due to the operation of the
irrigation wells located within the vaci ity of this location, causing
the plume to shift from one direction to another.
I am persuaded toward the first approach with the goal being to place
a ground water depression pump in the recovery well and create a cone of
depression in the immediate vacinity of W 10 and MW 13 that would be strong
enough to stabilize the ground water shifting and eliminate the "shifting"
action of the plume. Ogee the cone of depression is established, I feel
an effective recovery can be effected.
Regardless of the approach taken, it is my recommendation that immediate
' steps be taken to halt the possibility of further 'migration of product.
Very truly yours,
James R.
