This <br /> investigation was discussed in a letter re ort dated March 14, 1985. <br /> On-site work commenced at 3 p.m., March 26, 1985, and was continued the <br /> next day until 1:30 p.m., at which time fife borings within the property <br /> boundary had been drilled. An additional follow-up boring to the five <br /> drilled on March 26 and 27 was necessary outside the property boundary <br /> to determine the northwesterly extent of the plume. This boring was <br /> drilled March 29, 1985. Boring locations ire shown in Figure 1. <br /> The soil borings were drilled with a truck-mounted 8-inch hollow-stem <br /> auger to a depth of 20 feet (MW-4 and M -5) and 40 feet (MW-6, MW-7, <br /> MW-8, and MW-9) . All <br /> six borings were completed as monitoring wells. of the type shown on the <br /> individual bore lags, Plates 2-7. <br /> Ground water was encountered in the deep toorings (MW-6, MW-7, MW-8, and <br /> MW-9) at a depth of approximately 38 feet. A distinct petroleum odor <br /> was detected in the ground water in MW--6 and MW-7, accompanied by LEL <br /> readings of 5 and 45 percent, respectively.
