Dembroff
Ultramar Inc.
April 9, 1991
Page 5
Well AhandnnRing
As a result of investigative work performed by previous consultants since 1985,a Total of 33 ground
water monitoring and vadose wells have been installed at the site. Delta was requested by Ultramar to
properly abandon three on-site wells which did not contain water and were tested and determined to not
be useful for soil vapor extraction. Accordingly, monitoring wells MW-1,MW-3,and MW-4(Figure 2)
were abandoned.
The wells were abandoned by overdrilling to the maximum depth of the original monitoring well boring
and backfilling with a sand, cement, and bentonite powder grout. The wells were overdrilled to depths
of 20 feet (MW-3 and MW-4) and 45 feet below the surface(MW-1).
Schedule
Delta has been informed by Ultramar that a soil vapor extraction system previously installed at the site
will resume operation sometime during the second calendar quarter of 1991. In conjunction with the
soil vapor extraction, Delta recommends quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling the four
available wells(MW-20,MW-34,MW-35,and MW-36)to document the hydrogeologie conditions at the
d site. The next ground water monitoring and sampling event is scheduled for April 1991.
if you have any questions, please call me at(916)638.2085.
Sincerely,
DELTA ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS,INC
3
Martin S.Burck
Hydrogeologist
N.
