r
Beacon No. 696 - Lodi ? '
Work Plan
Page No. 11
The proposed work includes drilling out and properly abandoning 5 shallow
E
monitoring wells at the site and drilling three approximately 70-foot soil
borings at the site (approximately 10 feet into the Zone 5 saturated soil
zone) and installing a 4-inch-diameter ground-wate,, monitoring well in
each boring. Based on previous ground-water flow direction data, one of
the proposed borings will be located downgradient of the tank site and
fuel dispensers, one will be located upgradient, and one crossgradient.
The proposed boring locations are presented on Plate P-2.
The proposed borings and monitoring wells should be sufficient to supply
•
the necessary information to evaluate the presence of hydrocarbon
constituents in the deep ground water below the subject sit
e.
monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-5 are proposed to be properly
t abandoned. Wells MW-2 through MW-5 E
drilled to a total depth of 20
feet with the screened interval from 4 feet to
20 feet below grade and
t
Li well MW-1 was drilled to 45.5 feet and screened from 4 feet to 4
5.5.feet.
In our opinion, these wells may act as a conduit for vertical migration of FF
l t f
any possible surface spills or contamination at the site, and should be
f drilled out and backfilled.
3,*` J^ PROPOSED WORK'
I _!
r, The proposed work is recommended to evaluate whether hydrocarbon
-- — constituents are preent in the deep aquifer at the site. The following - --- —, —
s
! •
} tasks will be performed by .an environmental consultant selected by
Ultramar:
IF i -
i
,f' l k F SAI
