IIx B SITE CLOSURF,V,],UATiON REPORT
Beacon Station No.696
2448 West Kettleman Lane
Lodi,California
Delta Project No.D093-916
Page 7
calculations estimating the mass of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted ground water prior to vapor extraction are
' included in Appendix E. Records of the operation of the pump and treatment system and estimate of the volume of
hydrocarbons removed are not available. Figure 11 was used in the calculation estimating the mass of petroleum
' hydrocarbons in ground water prior to vapor extraction. An estimate prior to ground water pumping could not be
made, since ground water removal data was not available.
Based on the second quarter 1996 ground water monitoring event, no petroleum hydrocarbons were reported
' remaining in ground water underlying the site.
6,0 SSUMMARYICONCLUTONS
' Soil and ground water assessment and remediation at the site began in February 1985. Active remediation began in
January 1986 by a ground water pump and treatment system and continued until late 1988. Records of the operation
of the pump and treatment system and estimate of the volume of hydrocarbons removed are not available. Source
removal continued with the installation of a SVE system in December 1989 which operated until April 1994. The
' SVE was turned off due to inefficient operating conditions related to decreased influent petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations. As of April 1994 the SVE system removed approximately 1,600 gallons of vapor equivalent gasoline.
' The results ofremedial activities. ct ties conducted at the site to date are illustrated by comparison of Figure 11, which is an
' estimated size of the hydrocarbon plume in ground water for the sampling event conducted in January 1988, with the
fact that in the last four quarters no petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in any well that had sufficient water
to collect a sample. Additionally, mass balance calculations estimate that only 0.11 gallons of benzene remain in soil
which is a 99 percent reduction in benzene.
' RPTp01.916
