'f <br /> PROPOSED CLOSURE PLAN <br />' BEACON STATION NO. 696 <br /> 2448 WEST KETTLEMAN LANE <br /> LODI, CALIFORNIA <br /> DELTA PROJECT NO. 40-93-916 <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc (Delta), has been authorized by Ultramar Inc (Ultramar) to <br /> conduct an investigation of soil conditions at Beacon Station No 696, located at 2448 West Kettleman <br /> Lane, Lodi, San Joaquin County, California The investigation is intended to confirm remediation of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil beneath the site and to provide justification for regulatory closure of <br />' the site The location of the site is shown in Figure 1 <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br /> Prior to acquisition of the site by Ultramar in July 1990, the site was owned and operated by <br />' Conoco, Inc The presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water beneath the site was <br /> detected prior to 1985 Since that time, numerous investigations have been conducted at the site There <br /> have been 36 ground water monitoring wells or soil vapor extraction wells installed at the site and on <br /> adjacent properties A total of 19 of these wells, and a domestic water supply well, have been destroyed <br /> 1 Three single-walled underground tuel storage tanks were removed trom the site in March 1989, and were <br /> replaced by three double-walled tanks Remedial activities have included the installation of a soil vapor <br /> extraction system, which has been in operation at the site since December 1989 Site tacilities are <br /> illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> Ground water table elevations measured in the monitoring wells since February 2, 1991, are presented <br /> in Table I Ground water is present beneath the site at approximately 54 feet below grade and has <br /> historically flowed toward the south or southeast A summary of laboratory analyses of ground water <br /> samples collected since February 8, 1991, is presented as Table 2 Gro d water samples collected since <br />' November 23, 1992, have not contained detectable concentrations of etroleum hydrocarbons, except for <br /> the sample collected from monitoring well MW-25 on April 14, 1993, which contained relatively low <br />' concentrations of xylenes and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHg) as gasoline <br /> 1 <br />' RPT066 TA <br />
