Third Quarter SVES Report - Ultramar #696, Lodi
10 November 1992
i
13 August 1992 Monitoring:
' The system operated until 11 August at which time it went down due to
yet another construction related power outage The unit was restarted
on 13 August and purged several hours prior to monitoring.
The system was again stable and no required adjusting.
concentration increased slightly, 9 3 ting• The influent
the daily extraction rate increasingtoly e12 nlb /day part o rebound, with
I
The laboratory analysis of another verification sample of vapors
extracted from MW-19 indicated another slight decline to 620 ppm
25 August 1992 Monitoring:
The SVES operated continuously without interruption since the previous
monitoring. Vapor concentrations again generally declined with 7 of
the 10 extraction wells indicating non-detect (<Ippm) vapor levels.
The system continued to operate with only 3 extraction wells open. It
was not necessary to change any well valve positions on this date
The vacuum increased to a program high 9 5" hg, meaning that the soils
were being subjected to the highest vacuum feasible. The recirculation
valve was opened slightly to prevent the drive motor from over-amping
at this level of vacuum.
Although the influent concentration decreased slightly, this was
compensated by a corresponding increase in the flowrate, leaving the
' extraction rate relatively unchanged at about 11 lbs/day. Ambient
dilution remained closed.
9 September 1992 Monitoring
' The SVES operated less than a day followingth
It was restarted 8 September and e previous monitoring.
p
monitoring on this datepurged a full 24 hours prior to
I
Vapor concentrations remained low at most extraction wells. Wells
MW--20 and MW--34, which previously had always been left open to contain
migration, were closed for the first time.
The SVES was left operating on the single remaining "hot" well MW-19 to
' maximize contaminant removal prior to converting the abatement system
to GAC. The vapor concentration increased significantly at MW-19 as a
result of the high vacuum and flowrate being focused on this single
' well It was expected that this increase would only be temporary.
' - 4 -
