1 <br /> L <br /> f <br /> r� <br /> r. <br /> 0 <br /> 916/63112085 <br /> Delta 3330 Data Drive <br /> 100 <br /> Rancho Cordova,CA 95670 <br /> IM& <br /> Consultants,Environmental <br /> Inc *, rF P1,6/638-8385 <br /> R C t <br /> 5, r5i.-O <br /> January 11, 1992 J A N 2 2 9992 <br /> ENViRONMr,m rAL HFA TH <br /> PERMIT/,-, v(t,,_o <br /> Mr Kenneth Earnest <br /> Ultramar Inc. <br /> 525 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Well Abandonment Letter Report <br /> Beacon Station No. 696 <br /> 2448 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California <br /> Delta Project No 40-90-839 <br /> Dear Mr Earnest <br /> At the request and authorization of Ultramar Inc (Ultramar), Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc <br /> (Delta), has abandoned eight ground water monitoring wells at Beacon Station No 696, located at <br /> 2448 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California The location of the site is shown in Figure 1 <br /> The wells were located adjacent to the site on a vacant property which is scheduled for development <br /> as a retail shopping center The locations of the eight wells are shown in Figure 2 and include <br /> monitoring wells MW-16R, MW-17R, MW-18R, MW-22, MW-29, MW-30, MW-31, and MW-33 <br /> These wells did not contain water and were not useful for soil vapor extraction as determined by <br /> previous tests performed for Ultramar Each of the wells had a 4-mch diameter PVC casing with a <br /> total depth of approximately 50 feet below grade and a screened interval at 40 to 50 feet below grade <br /> The field work was performed on November 12, 1991 Mr Harlan Knoll of the San Joaquin County <br /> Department of Public Health Services visited the site to observe the abandonment procedures Each <br /> well was pressure grouted by the following procedures <br /> • Neat cement grout containing approximately 3 to 5 percent bentonite by weight was tremied <br /> down the casing to within 5 feet of the ground surface <br /> • An air-tight cap was secured to the top of the casing The casing was pressurized to 10 to <br /> 15 psi by injecting compressed air through a valve in the cap <br /> • Compressed air was injected into the casing periodically for approximately 30 minutes, after <br /> which the cap was removed and the well was grouted to within 2 feet of the ground surface <br /> Delta Delvers Solutions <br />
