J&L Market 0 0
8125 South El Dorado Street -2 - 16 August 2001
Upgradient states that based on 1993 San Joaquin County Flood maps the depth to water was between 35
and 40 feet in 1993. 9" SJ County Flood maps show the depth to water is between 20 and
30 feet. Therefore, set he release, the lack of MtBE data, and the rise in regional
groundwater levels, a groundwater investigation is required.
By 24 September 2001, please submit a plan of work to define the lateral and vertical extent of soil and
groundwater contamination remaining at the subject site. All work must be performed according to the
Tri-Regional Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground
Storage Tank Sites.
The plan of work must contain a proposal to complete a minimum of two soil borings and collect soil and
groundwater samples. One boring should be placed near the former dispenser where soil sample P-3 was
collected, and one should be placed west of soil sample locations P-13 and P-15 outside the excavation
area. A minimum of one soil sample from each boring must be analyzed for TPHg and BTEX by EPA
Method 8015/8020, for MtBE, TBA,DIPE, TAME, ETBE, ethanol, methanol, 1,2-dichloroethane, and
ethylene dibromide by EPA Method 8260B, and for lead by EPA Method 6010. All groundwater samples
must be analyzed for TPHg,BTEX,MtBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME, ETBE, 1,2-dichloroethane, and ethylene
dibromide by methods listed above. The plan of work must also include well construction details for the
on-site domestic well, and the on-site domestic well must be shown on future site plans and maps.
If you have any questions, please call me at(916) 255-3115.
Marty Hartzell
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr. Mark Owens, UST Cleanup Fund, SWRCB, Sacramento
Mr. Mike Infuma, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Stockton
Mr. Victor B.
