Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Hendrix & Son Trucking, Inc.
3740 Munford Avenue, Stockton, California
Site Code: 1694
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
This letter is submitted on behalf of Hendrix & Son Trucking, Inc. by Ground Zero Analysis, Inc.
(Ground Zero) in accordance with correspondence from San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) dated August 29, 1995. The purpose of this letter is to
address PHS/EHD's request for additional information on the subject site. The site location is shown
on Figure 1.
Site Background
During a routine systems test on a regular gasoline underground storage tank in 1986 it was determined
that gasoline fuel had leaked from a joint in the product piping adjacent to the tank. The use of the tank
was immediately discontinued and the tank and associated product lines were removed. The former
tank location is shown on Figure 2.
On April 21 and 22, 1986 J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates advanced one soil boring in the location of
the line leak a total depth of 75 feet below grade for the purpose of installing a groundwater monitoring
well (MW1). Laboratory analysis detected gasoline hydrocarbon constituents in soil samples collected
from the boring at 20, 30, and 40 feet below grade, as well as in a groundwater sample collected from
the well. No gasoline constituents were detected in soil samples collected from 15 and 50 feet below
grade. Tabulated results of soil and groundwater analytical results are included in Attachment A.
A second groundwater sample collected on May 27, 1988 also contained gasoline hydrocarbon
constituents. However, a groundwater sample collected on June 27, 1991 contained no detectable
benzene, ethylbenzene, or xylenes. Only toluene was detected at a very low level (4.3 ppb).
Additional attempts to sample groundwater in April 1992 and March 1993 were unsuccessful because
the groundwater level had dropped below the bottom of the well.
